MIT Lesson 1 Action Verbs Part B

Lesson 1 AV Part B
Writing events that haven't happened yet...
Hái méi chi1fan ne. = (We) haven't eaten yet.
Hái méiyou xi3zao3 ne. = (I) haven't bathed yet.
Hái méi shàng ban1. (She) hasn't started work yet.

Writing events that have happened, positive marked with "le".
Chi1fan le. = (We)ate; (we've) eaten (a meal).
Xi3zao3 le. = (I) bathed; (I've) bathed.
Shàng ban1 le. = (She's ) started work; (she's) gone to work.

"Le" implies "new situation" when paired with "bu"; but "past event" when paired with "mei(you)". Action verbs allow both interpretations...depending on context.
"Zou3 le. = "(I'm) leaving (now)" or "He's) gone"/(He) left.
Shàng kè le. = (We're) starting class. or (She's) in class.
Chi1fan le. = "(They've) started eating" or "(I've) eaten.
